"I
can do everything through him who gives me strength."
(Philippians 4:13)
Our
Future:
While valuing our
strong heritage and traditions, Pelham
Community Church is experiencing significant change and growth.
We have also added a second service at 11:00 am that is quite similar
to the 9:30 service.
We believe that Jesus
Christ is inviting us to follow Him on an exciting spiritual journey
and challenging us to develop a dynamic ministry under strong
leadership.
Our Past:
In the 19th century the
Evangelical and United Brethren Churches had their beginnings in
Pennsylvania and Maryland. By 1839 a circuit rider of the Evangelical
Association began to serve the German-speaking settlers of the Niagara
Peninsula.

Haist
House at Centre St. & Memorial Drive by Marilyn Casson
In 1848 a congregation
was established and prayer meetings were held in the log homes of
David Haist and John Stirtzinger. Later, the congregation met in the
Haist house at the corner of Centre Street and Memorial Drive. Some of
the founding families of this "German Church" are still
evident in the community and the congregation. The central portion of
the sanctuary was built in 1865.

The Pelham Community
Church celebrated 150 years of Christian faith and witness in this
community in 1998. During that century and a half, the congregation
made many building and capital improvements. We now celebrate the
people over the years, nurtured in this Christian Fellowship, who have
gone forth to serve in the professional ministry, as youth workers or
staff associates, as youth missionaries, as lay leaders, and in
outdoor ministries.

"It
was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be
evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's
people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built
up." Ephesians 4: 11,12)
